Food trucks have become quite popular after the Great Recession in 2008 according to the InstituteforJustice.org. In the summers here in Green Bay, WI you can find food trucks parked at business street corners to Titletown Night Market and several local weekend farmers’ markets.

Food trucks, just like many other types of restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops also need to carry insurance to protect their operations and business. Here are some basic food truck insurance coverages to consider.
Commercial Auto Insurance:Â The food truck in which you operate your business out of will need to be insured. Many vendors may even pull a trailer with their food truck and forget to have the trailer covered. Therefore, obtaining auto coverage like physical damage will protect your food truck, trailer, and any equipment you have permanently attached to it from an accident or even bad weather.
General Liability Insurance:
Property damage liability is an important coverage food trucks need especially when pulling into a parking area or backing up to a vendor space.
In addition, you will need liability insurance in case a customer claims they are sick or have food poisoning from the food you serve regardless of fault. Â Â
Lastly, optional coverage like business personal property will provide coverage for your cooking utensils, equipment, etc.
